I wanted to start writing a blog earlier but my first week in Spain was hectic to say the least. I am now in the town where I will be working as an English language and culture assistant and am taking full advantage of the free wireless that I have at the hotel where I am staying. I do not know if the place that I end up living will have internet access although the school will have it.
The town I am in is called Arcos de la Frontera and it is beautiful. My Spanish professor who recommended the town to me sure knew what she was taking about. Becca and I arrived here on a bus from Sevilla yesterday morning and were really tired. It was hard leaving the comfort of Sevilla and the friends we had made there. It was nice having lots of Americans to go out with but our reason for being here is to speak Spanish so although it will be a challenge we have to push ourselves. It is nice however, to have her here with me and not feel completely alone. We actually arrived in Arcos on a great day because all week there is a Feria going on - it is a huge fair where the town celebrates their patron saint, San Miguel. It is basically like a week-long carnival with dancing, lots of tents set up with food and drinks, amusement park rides, games, and music. We explored it a bit last night with a girl from Holland named Caroline who lived here last year as well. She also showed us around the town today.
Becca and I are making some head-way on our search for an apartment so hopefully by the middle of the week we will have a place to live. We're tired of living out of suitcases! I start working on Wednesday but have not met the English coordinator at my school yet. She got married this weekend and is out of town. We met with Becca's coordinator yesterday and she is great and has been very helpful and accomodating to us as well.
There is another assistant here from the USA and he has orientation with his program tomorrow in Granada which is about a 3 hour bus ride from where we are. Luckily Becca and I got our orientation out of the way all last week. The other assistant at my school is a girl from Belgium who will be arrving on Tuesday night so I am anxious to meet her.
I am going to take a bit of a "siesta" and then head to the Feria to dance. I miss you all very much. I'll try to update the blog as much as I can so please leave me comments of encouragement, to simply say hello, or to update me on your lives, etc.
Love always,
CeCe

Hola CeCe! I'm so glad to hear you are having an awesome time in Espana. You're missed here back in the states. I'm so excited to visit you over winter. I don't have much to say b/c we have been chatting online. So I will leave you with this little ditty.
